Ibiza without a car: routes and plans to move around in easy mode
If you love the idea of coming to Ibiza but don’t fancy spending a fortune on car hire, this article is for you. Here you’ve got routes and plans to explore beaches, villages and terraces by bus, electric bike or your comfiest trainers.
Beaches, villages and views you can reach by bus or bike
Did you know you can walk to Cala Gració from San Antonio or hop on a bus that takes just 10 minutes? Santa Eulària has connections every half hour in high season, and Talamanca beach is a short walk from Ibiza Town. If you’re up for something wilder, Ses Salines is one of the island’s most famous beaches, reachable by bus and a short walk.
If you don’t want any hassle, check out the route from Playa d’en Bossa to Figueretas: a seafront stroll full of bars where you can refuel with a juice or a cold beer.
Easy combos with bus or e-bike
There are loads of companies renting electric bikes by the day. If you fancy some eco-friendly vibes (or just don’t want to wreck your legs), this is the best choice. You can combine bike + bus and reach coves like Cala Llonga or Es Canar. Pro tip: set off early to dodge the heat and avoid ending up in that classic meme of “don’t want to walk but don’t want to pay for a taxi either.”
If you prefer something more chilled, there are flat routes with postcard views, like the path from Talamanca to Cap Martinet. And yes, some have proper cycle lanes.
Urban walks with charm (and shade)
La Marina area is perfect: quirky shops, ice creams and little craft stalls. Dalt Vila is a different story: a steep climb with epic views, but bring water because you will sweat here. If you want a more relaxed plan, wander around Vara de Rey and the nearby streets. Between shops and terraces you’ll find excuses to stop every few metres.
Start in Vara de Rey and head to the harbour. If you go around sunset, the light is amazing. Plus, on Sundays there are often craft markets with live music.
Apps and tips so you don’t get lost (or miss the bus)
Download Ibiza Bus and Moovit. With these two you’ll get your bearings with timetables and routes. If you’re cycling, Komoot will save you with offline maps. Another handy app is Maps.me, which has marked hiking trails.
Heads up: Google Maps sometimes makes up bus times. Better check the official Ibiza Bus website before you set off or ask at reception. And always carry cash for the bus, as not all drivers accept cards. If you fancy winging it, save landmarks as favourites.
Stay at Ryans and move in style (no car, no fuss)
Ryans has everything close by: bus stops, the port, shops and bars. From here you can get to almost anywhere on the island without a car. And if you love discovering places on foot, Ryans Ibiza Town puts you just steps from La Marina, Dalt Vila and loads of iconic restaurants and bars.
Ask at reception and we’ll give you maps, up-to-date timetables and insider tips so you can plan your routes hassle-free. We’ve got recommendations for bars with happy hour, secret beach bars and walks that don’t show up in the typical blogs.
And if you get lost… no worries, you can always head back to Ryans for a cold beer and plan your next day in easy mode.
