ArtByRow, the artistic name of Adam Cicanese, is an Australian urban artist, muralist and educator based in Fremantle, Western Australia. Self-taught, he started out in graffiti more than two decades ago, building a style of his own from the spray can and evolving towards a language that brings together contemporary muralism, painting and illustration.
His work is deeply influenced by hip hop culture, lettering and urban art, fusing graffiti techniques with the resources of contemporary painting. His compositions stand out for their vibrant colours, textures and organic forms drawn from the coastal landscape of Western Australia, producing large-format murals that transform public space and connect with the community.
Over the course of his career he has developed muralism and public art projects across several countries, working with institutions, festivals and international brands. Alongside his practice as an artist, he combines his creative work with teaching, promoting urban art as an educational tool and inspiring new generations of artists.
